Charity Initiative – 2 VIP box seats at premiership game and free entry to L2P 2010
Since 2004, London-Paris Cycle Tour riders have raised over £150,000 for our global charities. This is a wonderful achievement and shows the world that L2P isn’t just about the bike.
This year, the Geoff Thomas Foundation will be our lead partner and we are happy to announce that Geoff and a GTF Team will be riding our event. We will also be supporting youth education charity Christel House, Schools for Children of Cambodia and South Africa’s Morning Star, which works with children with HIV.
Geoff, who played football for England, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Wolves, is an inspirational campaigner. He set up the GTF after surviving leukaemia and raises money for blood cancer nurses and campaigns for improved care for blood cancer patients. To date, he’s raised around £1 million, including riding the Tour de France route twice and running the New York and London marathons.
The London-Paris Cycle Tour partners are passionate people who are working hard to make a difference for cancer patients and children. They are small organisations who, in these difficult economic times, have to fight for funding and that’s why we have chosen to support them. If you chose to fundraise while you ride with us, you will help to save the lives of blood cancer patients and improve the lives of children. Just a small amount of sponsorship can make a big impact with our partners.
Once again, the rider raising the most money will win the coveted Fundraisers’ Purple Jersey. The cyclist wearing the Purple Jersey rides into Paris with the leading bunch and the other Jersey Leaders . Our current holder is Anthony Burnett-Scott of Team Ashurst who has now held this jersey for three years running.
This year we will also be offering excellent prizes to the Top 5 overall fundraisers, including 2 VIP Executive Box tickets with adidas at Chelsea, Liverpool or Newcastle to a Premiership game and free entry to L2P 2010.
Support for our partners has always been a key element of the London-Paris Cycle Tour and we are grateful that so many of you continue to feel inspired to make a difference.
