HotChillee Training Ride #8

Sunday 26th August 2012

The final HotChillee training ride of the season takes places on Sunday 18th August.  The ride will be in the region of 2.5 to 3 hours and with the Alpine Challenge just 3 weeks away of course will be taking in plenty of the Surrey hills.  As always the route and distance are weather dependent and the Ride Captains will use their discretion en route.

These rides are a good way to meet the organisers, Ride Captains and fellow riders, and also to determine what group level you are at.

As with The Alpine Challenge itself the training rides will go out in the 4 speed groups.  A reminder of the Group ride levels are:

  • Group 1: Rolling course average speed 30km/h+ for 120km
  • Group 2: Average speed 28-29km/h for a rolling 120km
  • Group 3: Average speed 26-27km/h for a rolling 120km
  • Group 4: Average speed 25km/h for a rolling 120km

Riders normally assemble from 08:30 onward for a coffee, and many stay after the ride for a chat, coffee, cake.

Date:  Sunday 18th August 2013

Time:  09:00 (The Esher Suite at Imber Court is open from 8:30 for a coffee - a great fat burner before a ride!)

Start/Finish Location:  Imber Court Sports Club, Ember Lane, East Molesey, Surrey, KT8 0BT. Google Note: We will assemble from the main entrance and coffees are available from the Esher Suite.

Parking:  There is free parking available at Imber Court.

If you are new to The Alpine Challenge, here are a few tips to get you started quickly!

  • Be the first to greet your fellow riders and introduce yourself. You will meet more people than you can imagine.
  • If you puncture, you buy your group a coffee (puncture twice, coffee with cake!). Moral of the story: never ride with old tyres!
Riders of The London-Paris and Cape Rouleur are very welcome to join these training rides.
